llowphelim Historical Society Ltd.(TPHS) It is located in an attractive, stone built, former Methodist church at the River Slaney Bridge in Tullow. The society bought this old church and lovingly restored it with the help of many generous sponsors for future generations.
As we are voluntary Society and dependent on public donations and a annual subsidy from Carlow County Council for which we are most grateful. We really appreciate the kind support of donors to make up the shortfall!. It takes €5000 a year to run the museum this covers insurance, heating maintenance and staffing not to mention providing cases/security for new acquisitions. We are constantly answering genealogy queries from Carlovians resident abroad and local students doing History degrees in Irish Universities. We get visits from local schools who drop in on education tours. Last year alone we had 500 tourists from outside the Carlow area. If it was not for the wonderful work of our Tullow Community Group Ltd. scheme run by Liz Savage and her staff the museum would not be open to the public. Our sincere thanks to all who participate in the scheme!
We have charitable status and all donations made to us are tax deductible.
We provide audited accounts to Company Records Office annually.
